Priest encourages parishioners to emulate Christ the King
TAGUIG CITY – The Sto. Nino de Taguig Parish through its Evangelization and Lay Formation (ELF) Ministry conducted recently a formation seminar last November 15, 2014 to help its parishioners appreciate Christ the King in their lives and encourage them to feel His presence in their home, parish and community.
Speaking before some 300 parishioners and parish workers who attended the formation seminar about Christ the King, Rev. Fr. Paulino Balagtas, parish priest of Sto. Nino de Taguig, said they want to share the concept of kingship of Christ: a King who served and a King who ruled not by tyranny but out of love.
“We hope to encourage our parishioners to appreciate Christ the King in their lives and to emulate Jesus as a Servant King especially now that the feast of Christ the King is coming,” he said.
The feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the final Sunday of the liturgical year, which is the last Sunday before the start of the Advent season. This year, the feast of Christ the King falls on November 23, 2014.
Formation topics include the following: Module 1: Feast of Christ the King: It’s History and Meaning discussed by Bro. Jose Bobby Casimiro, coordinator of the ELF Ministry; Module 2: The Kingly Office of Christ, One of the Threefold Mission explained by Sis. Ma. Ida Falejo, elder of Fatima Charismatic Community; Module 3: Christ the King and the Last Judgment shared by Sis. Ma. Flerida Salazar, parish lector and a Christian Living teacher at Sto. Nino Catholic School; and Module 4: Christ the King, Our Eucharist expounded by Fr. Balagtas.
The formation seminar also includes the showing of MTV videos and an interpretative dance by God’s Dream Theatre. The seminar was immediately followed by a procession of the Christ the King image with Knights of Columbus as honor guards, a flower offering, and a High Mass presided over by Fr. Balagtas.
Bro. Ramon Nate, Parish Pastoral Council Lay Coordinator said the formation seminar on the Feast of Christ the King held November 15, 2014 from 2:00-6:00PM was also the launching activity of the PPC ELF Ministry and the Speakers Bureau. Other members of the bureau are Sis. Ma. Lea Tarun, Sis. Gina Reyes, Sis. Yulanda Mae Chai, Sis. Gertrudes Bautista, Bro. Manuel Alsasua and Bro. Natalio Bautista, who emceed the affair.
Program coordinator Sis. Gertrudes Bautista announced that the next formation class will be about the Catholic Dogma of Immaculate Conception scheduled on December 13, 2014 at 6:00-9:00PM at the same parish venue. (Report by Marilou E. Dominguiano)
