Pasig Diocesan Lay Leaders Learn From Bishop Mylo
By: Fr. Ramil Marcos
PASIG CITY – Close to a thousand leaders from the parishes and schools of the Diocese of Pasig flocked to the Tanghalang Pasigueno on May 5, 2012, Saturday, to join Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara for a morning of formation talk and Holy Eucharist. Registration started at 7am and the formal program started after the Morning Prayer at 8am.
Bishop Mylo gave a very profound reflection of what it means to be a servant-leader in the Church today. He emphasized the origin of our calling to service, the very person of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Caller. According to the Bishop, as we respond to his call, we embrace the values of the Gospel that equip us to truly commit ourselves to the will of God.
The talk was followed by prayerful silence and reflection and a short buzz session with the participants’ seatmates. This opportunity for sharing made people alive with their own stories of responding to the call of Jesus for servanthood in today’s parish or school context.
The summit of the celebration was the Eucharist presided by the Bishop and priests who joined their people in the formation talk.
This second part of the Bishop’s personal advocacy for the formation of diocesan leaders again showed the bishop as a true spiritual and pastoral leader of the Diocese of Pasig./PASIG MEDIA 20120505
