The Roman Catholic Bishop of Pasig
10 February 2016
The Lenten season, which begins today, Ash Wednesday, calls us to conversion, to what the prophet Joel calls in our first reading as a “rending of hearts (cf. J12, 13)Now, our gospel today indicates to us how we become converted: it highlights three fundamentals tasks for us, Christians – namely, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (cf. Mt.6, 1-6.16-18). The path to conversion, therefore, directs us to turn to God, who should be our priority, and to practice charity.
The flagship program of Pondo ng Pinoy, Hapag-Asa, is a humble response to the call to charity and solidarity. For several years now, it has been helping children through supplemental feeding and early childhood education. It has also provided the children’s parents with values education classes as well as livelihood and skills training. Last year, through Hapag-Asa, more than 21,000 everyday for six months. This year. Pondo ng Pinoy is re-launching the FAST2FEED campaign, so that through Hapag-Asa, it can feed at least 25,000 children.
We appeal to yo again, dear brothers and sisters, to support FAST2FEED 2016 of Hapag-Asa of Pondo ng Pinoy. In this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, let us heed Pope Francis’ call to practice mercy through concrete acts of charity. Let us not fall into humiliating indifference….Let us open our eyes and see the misery…the wounds of our brothers and sisters…and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for help! (Misericordiae Vultus 15). it only takes Php1,200.00 or Php10,00 per day to bring back a hungry and undernourished child to a whatever we save to Hapag-Asa. Let us FAST2FEED.
May God bless you and reward you for your kindness and generosity.
