Coinciding with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus this June 19, 2020 is the Day of the Sanctification of Priests.
CBCP Secretary-General, Rev. Fr. Marvin Mejia forwarded to the arch/bishops the communication from the Congregation for the Clergy through the Apostolic Nunciature.
“As Your Excellency will note, the Congregation is asking your kind Office to inform the Local Ordinaries that in observance of the Day of Sanctification, a time of prayer and fraternal meeting is highly encouraged. During this meeting the Bishops can organize a moment of reflection and fraternal sharing among their priests,” said Msgr. Julien Kaboré, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the Apostolic Nunciature in his letter to Fr. Mejia.
The CBCP Permanent Council decided that it is up to the arch/diocese on how to celebrate the said day.
“Since the Congregation is encouraging that it is a day of prayer and fraternal meeting, we are attaching Pope Francis’ “Letter to the priests on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the death of the Holy Curé of Ars” 4 August 2019, presented by the Dicastery as points for reflection,” wrote Fr. Mejia.//Fr. JJopson, RCDPOC
