Gradual Implementation Of New Roman Missal Already Underway In Pasig

PASIG CITY – The Diocese of Pasig joins the other suffragan dioceses of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Manila in implementing the new English Roman Missal.

According to Fr. Daniel Estacio, Minister of Liturgical Affairs, the gradual implementation will commence on June 10, 2012, Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ or Corpus Christi.

“Gradual implementation means that all the responses, acclamations and their musical setting will be progressively introduced to our liturgical assembles.  When the full implementation comes in December 2012, it is hoped that the assembly would have been accustomed to their parts,” Estacio explained.

Meanwhile, the priest-presiders are instructed to use the new format.  “This is so in order for us to be familiarized with the prayers at Mass.  These prayers will help us to ‘exercise’ our ministry with greater attention and devotion,” explained Fr. Estacio.

The gradual implementation will be by month starting June when the response will change to “And with your spirit” instead of “And also with you.” This response is uttered during the greeting, the reading of the Gospel, the preface, and the final blessing.

On July, the new “I confess” will be implemented; the new “Gloria” will be recited this August, while the “Apostles’ Creed” will commence this September.  On October, the response to “Pray brethren …” and the “memorial acclamation” will be recited while on November, the faithful will have a new response to “Lord, I am not worthy…”

The new format can be accessed in this site.

On December, we shall have implemented the whole new Roman Missal.

The Liturgical Ministry encourages the parishes to give liturgical catechesis for every change in the responses either during the homilies or after the post-communion prayer.
