Papal Nuncio to the Philippines visits the Diocese of Pasig


It is with a joyous heart that on the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons that we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with His Excellency Most Reverend Gabrielle Giordano Caccia, Papal Nuncio to the  Philippines.

After meeting with the delegation from the Diocese of Antipolo, the Papal Nuncio and his party was escorted to Sta. Clara de Montefalco Parish and Tahananng Mabuting Pastol.  The Papal Nuncio was given a tour of the premises before proceeding to the Diocesan Museum at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.  Here, he was met by Most Rev. Mylo Hubert C. Vergara, Bishop of Pasig, Rev. Fr. Roy Rosales, Director for Cultural Heritage, and the members of Parish Pastoral Council of Immaculate Conception Cathedral and AbangLingkod.

Archbishop Caccia had a trip along memory lane of the colorful past of the church in Pasig when he visited the Diocesan Museum.Rev. Fr. Roy Rosales and Mr. Willie Caruncho of the Diocesan Museum showed the Papal Nuncio photographs and mementoes about the old Pasig.

The Eucharistic Celebration was led by the Papal Nuncio together with Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara and the clergy of the Diocese of Pasig.  The Papal Nuncio was treated to a cultural presentation of the “Pandangguhan” from San Roque Parish.  During his homily, Archbishop Caccia announced that as a simple token to the more than one thousand faithful of the diocese who attended the mass, he would be giving away a prayer card of Pope Francis.  Aside from this, he is giving all the clergy present a copy of the Pope’s Apostolic Exhortation GaudeteetExsultate.

A solemn procession followed after the mass.  At the same time, dinner was hosted by Bishop Mylo  at the former Bishop’s residence.  The Papal Nuncio and the guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner accompanied by beautiful music by Marian and Odess Miguel.
